NP was a performance-exhibition by Australian-born, Amsterdam-based artist Ivan Cheng. The exhibition was made up of many components, all of which explored and offered different themes. Videos and installations were presented and utilised as settings for three live performances. The exhibition was held at Monash University Museum of Art (MUMA): a site where contemporary art, art-led education and research are produced and explored. more: official website

USB was created as a toy model to complement the theme of transport. Balance played a key role in the construction of USB, between weight/ height, existed/ new and dark/ light. USB stood at waist height; on top of a 90cm aluminium rod and grounded in Sensilab's line-following robots. The three of them resembled hybrids of USB mini + bus with their four pointed wheels and sectioned windows. They had heavy bodies but thin transparent shells with 0.9mm wall thickness. This was aided by utilising the FDM 45-degree fabrication rule, hence fewer materials were required as support structures while easing the post-processing on the USBs' irregular forms.

Found within their bodies are two cavities housing their energy sources: the CR2025 coin batteries. You can see them glowing from afar, catching glimpses as they circulate into one and out of another room, with their warm LED headlights.
